Juniper Beats Third-Quarter EPS Target by 8 Cents
Juniper (JNPR:Nasdaq - news) Thursday reported third-quarter earnings that nearly doubled Wall Street's expectations.
The Sunnyvale, Calif., networking start-up said earnings for the quarter ended Sept. 30 jumped to 17 cents from 8 cents in the second quarter. Revenue rocketed 78% to $201 million, from $113 million in the sequentially earlier period. Wall Street had expected third-quarter earnings of 9 cents a share.
Pro forma net income, excluding a $1.9 million goodwill charge and a deferred compensation charge of $415,000, rose to $60.3 million from $28.6 million in the second quarter. Actual net income, including the above-mentioned amortization of goodwill and deferred compensation charges, was $58.1 million, or 17 cents per share, compared with $19.6 million, or 6 cents a share, in the second quarter.
Juniper shares slipped $6.39, or 3.1%, to $199.61 ahead of the report.
