Nortel Gets $935 Million Telecom Pact in Spain

Nortel Networks (NT:NYSE - news) received a $935 million deal to supply independent Spanish telecommunication company Xfera with equipment to build the latest wireless Internet infrastructure in Spain over a period of three years.

The agreement requires the signing of a definitive agreement.

Nortel will supply Xfera with an Internet Protocal core network and radio access spanning across Madrid, southern Spain, the Canary Islands and much of the northeastern part of Spain.

Shares of Nortel fell sharply this morning, a day after the company reported third-quarter earnings that exceeded analysts' expectations by a penny but fell short of revenue targets amid a slowdown in optical network sales. Nortel's shares were recently down $17.31, or 27%, to $46. About 35 million shares had changed hands an hour into the trading day.

hallo Ralph,

lese eben, daß Nortel in Toronto aufgrund einer PR aus dem Handel genommen wurde. Zur Zeit findet noch Handel in den USA statt. Was da wohl abgeht? Ich ahne nichts gutes!

Hi Ralph,

es ging wohl darum, dass sie den Toronto Index der Heimatbörse um 10% gebracht haben. Da mußten sie Nortel kurzer Hand mal aus der Börse rausnehmen. Sie hatten in dem Index einfach zu schwer diese Aktie gewichtet, sodaß Heute alles über diesen einbrach. Könnte man damit vergleichen, wenn der dow ca. 1000 Punkte während 5 h. einbricht....da würden wir auch die Krise bekommen!

Aber - wer weiß - nichts ist unmöglich!!
