Hi Leute,

die Airlines haben scharf kalkulieren gelernt und sind bei hohem Ölpreis zähneknirschend geflogen. Ein fallender Ölpreis sollte die Gewinne der Airlines in die höhe treiben, denn sparsam sind die ja jetzt zwangsläufig geworden. Arlines laufen im Zyklus nach dem Energie Sektor, speziell dann wenn der Ölpreis ein Top gebildet hat.

Airline Index takes off ($XAL, AMR, LUV, KLM, UAL) by Chris Kraeuter
The Amex Airline Index ($XAL) is up 2.4 percent, led higher by AMR (AMR) and Southwest Airlines (LUV). AMR shares are up 4 percent to $37.31 despite canceling 60 percent of flights out of Dallas/Fort Worth due to weather conditions. More cancellations are expected during the next couple of days. Southwest shares are up 3.5 percent to $33.07 to a new 52-week high. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KLM) shares are up 6.8 percent to $21.56 on volume of only 23,000 shares. UAL (UAL) shares are slightly lower, down 0.4 percent to $35.31. During the past two months, the index has traded sideways around the 149 to 155 level breaking above 160 only once. Currently, the index is up 3.8 points to 159.
