Ditech Communications Warns of Lower Third-Quarter Results
Ditech Communications (DITC:Nasdaq - news) warned of lower-than-expected results for the third quarter and the remainder of fiscal 2001, citing the delay of a new product and the xpected slowdown of infrastructure spending.
The company's shares tumbled to a new 52-week low, losing $3.75, or 35.3%, to $6.91 in trading on the Nasdaq. The closing low for the year is $9.38.
The Mountain View, Calif., telecommunications equipment supplier said it expects to break even or lose as much as 5 cents a share in the third quarter, compared with earnings of 41 cents in the same period last year. The company expects third-quarter revenue of $12.5 million to $14 million, down from $34.4 million a year ago and well below the consensus estimate of $47 million. Ditech said it sees fiscal 2001 revenue of $120 million to $125 million, up from $116.9 million in 2000. Analysts expected 2001 revenue of $188.2 million.
