PITTSBURGH, Jan 22 (Reuters) - FreeMarkets Inc. FMKT, an online business-to-business auctioneer, on Monday posted narrower-than-expected fourth-quarter losses as the number of users of the company's key market place kept increasing.
The company reported a loss per share, excluding items, of 27 cents on revenues of $34.5 million. The consensus analysts estimated was a loss of 31 cents per share, according to research firm First Call/Thomson Financial.
The company's shares rose $1-9/16, or 6.2 percent, to $26-11/16 on Monday on the Nasdaq stock market, above a 52-week low of $16 and well off their 52-week high of $287. http://www.abt-edv.com/s-channel//Board/smilies/eek2.gif
