Texas Instruments [TXN] after Monday's close reported fourth-quarter earnings of $0.31 a share, missing the First Call consensus estimate by $0.02. The company also warned that revenue would decline in the first quarter. Shares of Texas Instruments fell 8% in after-hours trading.
Shares of Openwave Systems [OPWV] surged 15% in Monday's after-hours session following the company's announcement it earned $0.09 a share in its second quarter. Analysts polled by First Call expected a loss of $0.03 a share. The company also raised its expectations for 2001.
After Monday's close, Elan [ELN] and Biogen [BGEN] announced positive results from preliminary analyses of two large Phase II clinical studies with Antegren in multiple sclerosis and Crohn's Disease.
Vitesse Semiconductor [VTSS] late Monday reported a first-quarter profit of $0.25 a share, beating Wall Street forecasts by a penny. The company earned $0.11 a share during the same period last year. Vitesse shares, though,
fell 5% in after-hours trading.
Com21 [CMTO] after Monday's close reported a pro forma loss of $0.85 a share, compared with a loss of $0.19 during the same period last year. Analysts polled by First Call expected a loss of $0.22 a share. Shares of Com21 plunged 40% in after-hours trading.
