Market Preview For Next Week
=========================================================

Cisco Systems [CSCO] should influence next week's trading when its reports second-quarter results after Tuesday's close. Analysts are forecasting a profit of $0.19 a share on sales of $7.22 billion. Although Cisco warned analysts to lower their sales estimates for the quarter, the company should at least meet the earnings forecast. Investors, though, should expect a cautious outlook from Cisco for at least the next two quarters. Last quarter, the company beat the earnings estimates. Shares of Cisco fell 7% on Friday and the bad news might already be priced into the stock.

Friday's mixed economic data could continue to create confusion on Wall Street as investors wonder if the economy will slip into recession and if the Fed will cut rates at the next FOMC meeting. Next week will be light in terms of economic releases, with only a small decline in non-farm
productivity expected when the numbers are releases on Wednesday. President Bush is expected to outline his tax cut plan on Wednesday, which could give the markets a boost.

Microsoft [MSFT] moved higher in after-hours trading on Friday after the software giant said it would stop giving a $400 rebate to new subscribers of its MSN Internet access business.

Shares of NBC Internet [NBCI] could move lower Monday after the company late Friday said it would delay the release of fourth-quarter earnings in order to collect more nformation needed to provide adequate guidance about
the current year's results.

Sun Microsystems [SUNW] will hold an analyst meeting next week.

Shares of Tripos [TRPS] are expected to split 2-for-1 before the market opens on Monday.

<u>Word On The Street</u>

"Investors are trying to digest the Fed's move, and there could be a serious lull as we figure out where the economy really is," says John Peluso of Lehman Brothers [LEH].
