SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 16, 2001--Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR - news), a leading provider of next-generation IP infrastructure systems, today reported its fourth quarter results for the period ending December 31, 2000.

Net revenues for the fourth quarter were $295.4 million, compared with $201.2 million for the third quarter, an increase of 47%. Pro forma net income was $84.6 million or $0.24 per share, compared with pro forma net income of $60.3 million or $0.17 per share in the third quarter of 2000.

Actual net income for the fourth quarter, which includes amortization of goodwill and other purchased intangibles of $5.3 million, amortization of deferred compensation of $11.5 million and in-process research and development of $10.0 million, was $62.2 million or $0.18 per share, compared with $58.1 million or $0.17 per share in the third quarter of 2000.

Net revenues for the year ended December 31, 2000 were $673.5 million, compared with $102.6 million for the year ended December 31, 1999. Pro forma net income for 2000 was $184.0 million or $0.53 per share, compared with pro forma net loss of $4.7 million or $(0.03) per share during 1999. Actual net income for 2000 was $147.9 million or $0.43 per share, compared with actual net loss of $9.0 million or $(0.05) per share during 1999.

Hier äußert sich der CEO über die Zukunftsaussichten ähnl. wie der CISCO Chef - aber ich denkmal das müßte eigentl. noch nachbörsl. bekannt gewesen sein:

In a conference call with analysts, Juniper said that the company was not immune to the slowdown in the market, adding that it too, had reduced visibility going forward.

The company said that it had a big book to bill ratio of more than one. Juniper said that it is focused on execution, adding that it's unclear if the industry is experiencing a slowdown or a pause. Revenue is seen growing 12-15% in the first quarter.

During the conference call, Juniper said that international revenue will be 35-40% of the total in 2001, with gross margins expected to be 62-65% going forward. At the same time, revenues are expected to be "lumpy" going forward.

Hab eben noch gelesen, daß man die Anzahl der Neueinstellungen drastisch erhöhen möchte. Trotzdem gab der CEO an, daß er Angaben zum künftigen Unternehmensergebnis nur beschränkt geben kann. Eben aufgrund der wirtschaftl. Situation.

Desweitern sollten die INoffiziellen Wallstreetschätzungen bezügl. des Umsatzes bei 330 Mio für dsa 4. Quartal gelegen haben!

Gerade kommen Informationen von einer exklusiven Goldman Sachs-Konferenz in Southern California.
Juniper Networks hört sich dort fst genauso an, wie vor kurzer Zeit Cisco.

Das Unternehmen informierte dort Kunden von GS, dass man weiterhin aggressiv investieren werde, um Makrtanteile zu gewinnen ..... die Einschätzung der kurz- und mittelfristigen Entwicklung fällt aber zunehmend schwerer.

Das hört sich aber gewaltig danach an, dass man vielleicht auf ein "verfehltes Quartal", sprich Ertragswarnung, vorbereiten will.

Bisher nur eine Vermutung, aber sicherlich nicht unmöglich.
