... Wahrscheinlich läuft es so: am Nachmittag des 31. Dezembers läuft eine Meldung über die Ticker

"...fell after warnings that the year 2001 will be sharply shorter than expected. Before New Years Eve opened, it announced that it would only last 8 months in contrast to the consensus estimations of 12 months. The short fall is mostly due to a drastically reduced sommer time (3 weeks vs previously projected 3 months) and also to cutdowns of spring and autumn, both now being expected to last for about eight weeks, with reduced temperature.

Calendar manufacturers as filofax and distributors fell sharply on the news, together with stocks from tourism industry and beachware retailers.

Many hightech stocks on the Nasdaq Composite Index ended slightly higher on the news. "At least there wont be a summer crash in 2001", one executive was cited explaining this reaction.

A well known shortseller from Germany tried to short summer months in the premarket, but couldn´t get an uptick."
