Apple Computer (AAPL) 22.79: Lehman Brothers upgrades to BUY from MKT PERFORM; firm cites differentiated new products, low inventories and compelling valuation driven by $10.85 in cash per share that should help future quarters
Siebel Systems (SEBL) 33.98: Goldman Sachs upgrades to RECOMM LIST from MKT OUTPERFORM; says Q1 results were slightly above firm's reduced expectations; feels that bad news of slower business conditions likely for the next two qtrs or so is already in stock; firm lifts 2001 EPS view to $0.63 from $0.55 and 2002 to $0.85 from $0.75
IBM (IBM) 106.50: Goldman Sachs upgrades to RECOMM LIST from MKT OUTPERFORM with a target price of $145 as its defensive characteristics, powerful annuity-like profit stream, and stock liquidity combine to make IBM an easy way for cash-heavy investors to begin to get back into technology; firm says that Unix servers, storage, and microelectronics should continue to grow at the needed 15%-or-higher levels, enabling IBM to reach high single digits constant currency revenue growth for the year; raises 2001 EPS forecast from $4.75 to $4.85.
